David Pendleton Williams

David Pendleton Williams, farmer
David Pendleton Williams, 96, of Boyce, Va., died Sept. 6 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester. He was born Aug. 30, 1912, to the late Pendleton and Marie Williams of Rappahannock County.
He was a farmer for more than 70 years. He started working at the age of 10, shucking corn and stocking sugar cane, then went on to tending horses and later farming on horse and cattle farms.
His wife, Katie Turner Williams, preceded him in death, as did a son, Pendleton Williams, a daughter, Alice Robinson, four brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Williams is survived by one son, James Williams of Hume; four daughters, Maddie Brown of Alexandria, Betty Thomas and the Rev. Mamie Bridgett, both of Boyce, and Evelyn Williams of Aldie; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at Mount Olive Baptist church, 2932 Atoka Road, Rectortown, where the family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the service begins. The Rev. Dr. Norman W. Smith Sr. will officiate. Interment will be at Mount Morris Community Cemetery, Hume.
