Mildred Gordon Holmes

Mildred Gordon Holmes, registered nurse
Mildred Gordon Holmes, 98, of Warrenton, died Sept. 8 at Fauquier Hospital.
She was born Nov. 5, 1909, in Madison County, Va., the eldest of five children of John and Mary Estes Gordon. Her siblings were the late John Gordon of Fredericksburg, Hiram Gordon of Culpeper, Ruth Lohr of Madison, and Hilda Sudduth of Warrenton. Besides her siblings, she was preceded in death in 1972 by her husband, Harvey Holmes.
Mrs. Holmes was a registered nurse at Fauquier Hospital, and then went to work for Dr. James B. Hutt Jr., and later for 25 years for Dr. Eric Maybach, retiring at age 85.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Anne Eustace of Catlett and Sandra Romine of Midland, and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, with interment at Warrenton Cemetery.
