Gay E. Mercer

Died February 29, 2008
 

Gay E. Mercer, Marshall native

Gay E. Mercer, 74, of The Plains, died Feb. 29 at Fauquier Hospital. She was born April 22, 1933, at Marshall to the late Fenton Jackson Edwards and Nellie Frances Corder Edwards.

Mrs. Mercer was retired as a customer service representative for the former Marshall National Bank.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Paul F. Mercer Sr., and a sister, Ardell E. Huffer.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Cubbage of The Plains; one son, Paul Mercer Jr. of The Plains; and four grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother, Gilbert Edwards of The Plains, and two sisters, Gerti Mercer of Silver Spring, Md., and Joyce Johnson of The Plains.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, by the Rev. Sam P. Jones Jr. at Marshall Baptist Church, where she had been a longtime active member. Interment will be at Warrenton Cemetery.
