Underdogs Fall Just Short

By heymanmj

Local Club Volleyball Team, Ichiban has had some success in recent weeks. This past weekend, the success came from their 16-1's team, Daito. Daito was the lowest seeded team in the gold bracket of their regional playoffs. Undaunted, Coach Heyman (Stonewall Jackson HC), and the girls of Daito began a day long conquest of proving people wrong. The girls finished their pool in second place posting a 6-2 record. Unfortunately, that meant they would have to play the first place team on the other net, Metro who was undefeated in pool play. Daito exploded out of the gates, winning the first match easily 25-12. Metro would not go away quietly, defeating Daito in the second game 25-22. But, in a hard fought battle, Daito was able to claim victory 15-13 in the final game, propelling them into the final match, against top seeded SMJ. Unfortunately for Daito, SMJ was a good as their record and defeated Daito in two games. Daito is comprised of the following players: Battlefield's Kelly Milione, Nicole Doxsee, Alison Fullerton, Megan Chase, Kayla Fowler and Hope Sackett. Brentsville's Alyssa Beach, Johanna Hummell, and Jennifer Cogswell. Stonewall's Tina Baehr. Garfield's Chanelle Williams. And Woodbridge's Allison Hill. Good luck ladies, and keep up the good work!
