Tax assistance for seniors

By alice

The Prince William Area Agency on Aging and the Manassas and Woodbridge Senior Centers will offer AARP Tax Assistance by appointment during this tax filing system. The program is part of the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program that provides free tax help to people age 60 and older. Low and moderate income workers, including veterans, can get free tax help through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which is available at most Prince William County libraries.

To make an appointment if you are over age 60, call the Manassas Senior Center at 703-792-6405 or the Woodbridge Senior Center at 703-494-5136. To locate the libraries offering the VITA program visit www.pwcgov.org/library.

Information on the new economic stimulus payments under the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 will be available from the counselors or by visiting the www.irs.gov Web site. For more information contact the Area Agency on Aging at 703-792-6400.
