Storm Into Spring: Remodel
By oakhill
CHANTILLY, Va. – There is no doubt this month’s blizzard gave you a little cabin fever and a lot of inspiration to make changes around the house.
Did the snow make you yearn for a complete home makeover? Maybe a soaking tub to relax after a hard day of shoveling? A media room where you can hunker down with friends? Or an open kitchen plan for future family time together?
“You can make your existing home seem brand new with a redesign or a second-story addition,” says Tom Vitale, owner of Oak Hill Building & Remodeling/VCI Inc. in Fairfax.
Oak Hill Building & Remodeling/VCI Inc. is one of this year’s exhibitors at the Capitol Home & Garden Show, which runs from Thursday, Feb. 25 to Sunday, Feb. 28 at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly.
The show’s hours are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26 and Saturday, Feb. 27; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28.
Tickets are $12 at the door, but only $9 online.
“When you undertake a major renovation, the return on your investment is tremendous, not only in potential resale value but also in personal satisfaction. You’re getting what you want from your home,” says Vitale.
To get the most of a home renovation, you need to know what you want and what you can spend.
“Hiring a developer who understands ‘on time and on budget’ is critical,” says Vitale.
“Also important is planning the renovation from start to finish. A licensed contractor can easily guide you through the process.”
The remodeling company you hire will be in your home day-in and day-out until the job is done.
“Details matter. Make sure you choose a contractor you are comfortable with,” Vitale says.
