Gar-Field snaps Patriot freshmen winning streak

Gar-Field delivered the first loss for any Patriot football team Thursday night in Nokesville as the freshman Indians topped the Pioneers 20-19 in a down-to-the-wire thriller.

The freshmen Pioneers are now 5-1 after the Indians mounted a fourth quarter comeback that resulted in a play-action pass into the end zone for a touchdown with just seconds remaining in regulation, putting Gar-Field over the edge.

Meanwhile, the Patriot junior varsity team still holds a perfect record at 6-0 following a 47-20 win on the road against Hayrfield on Wednesday.

Check the October 13 edition of The Gainesville Times for a recap of the games as well as a preview of what is to come during the remainder of the regular season.
