BHS-Oscar Smith game time moved to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday

The Battlefield varsity football team is set to play host to Oscar Smith High School this Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2:30 p.m. in the Group AAA state semi-finals.

Originally, the time had been scheduled for 1 p.m. However, Battlefield head coach Mark Cox said in a brief interview on Tuesday afternoon that the time was pushed back to 2:30 p.m. because students are taking SATs earlier on Saturday.

Battlefield (10-2) enters the match as the three-time defending Northwest Region champion, having beat Hylton (11-1) this past Saturday in Woodbridge. Oscar Smith won the Eastern Region championship this past weekend for the fourth time in the last five years, defeating Salem 35-34.

The game marks the final home game of the year for the Bobcats. If they win, they will earn a trip to Charlottesville on Saturday, Dec. 3 to defend their 2010 Division 6 state title at the University of Virginia's Scott Stadium.

According to the Battlefield High School website, state semi-final pre-sale football tickets "will be on sale" for $10 on Friday, Dec. 2 during all five lunch shifts and from 2-3 p.m. in the commons area.

Battlefield High School is located at 15000 Graudation Drive in Haymarket on the east side of U.S. 15 in Dominion Valley.
