Teacher of the Year award finalists announced

SUNDAY, MARCH 6 2011

Five educators have been selected as finalists from among 18 nominees for the Prince William County Teacher of the Year Award. The teachers are Matthew Brodt, Battlefield High; Sharlene Hallett, Osbourn Park High; Lynn Kerr, Victory Elementary; DeLores Lucas, Battlefield High; and Maryann O'Brien, Forest Park High.

These teachers were chosen based on their ability to instill in students a desire to learn and achieve, understanding of the individual needs of students, thorough knowledge, and ability to share that knowledge, cooperative relationships, and outstanding leadership. One teacher is selected as the winner of both awards; the recipient will be announced in mid-March.
