Police search schools for drugs

The Prince William County Police Department conducted searches of two schools on Monday to ensure student safety. These random searches are part of an ongoing effort by the Department, and the Prince William County Schools Office of Risk Management, to ensure that schools remain safe, drug-free environments for students and employees.

Officers and drug-detection dogs searched Stonewall Jackson High School, 8820 Rixlew Lane in the Manassas area, and Parkside Middle School, 8602 Mathis Avenue in the Manassas area.

No drugs were located at either school.

Police Chief Charlie T. Deane has said that it “is important to send a strong message that drugs in the school will not be tolerated. We hope that these searches will deter people from bringing drugs to school.”

School Resource Officers – County police permanently assigned to middle- and high schools – coordinated the effort.
