Doctor wins car for hole-in-one
The Inova Fairfax Children’s Hospital Charity golf tournament was hosted at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville on Sept. 13 and one participant walked away with a brand new car.
William Rees, a local physician, stepped up to the tee box on hole #17, also known as “Seven Pines,” with his 9 wood and watched in amazement as it rolled into the cup. That miraculous shot won him a brand new 2011 Volvo C70 T5 convertible.
“This is the second time I’ve actually made a hole-in-one but this is the first time it actually won me something, let alone a car,” said Rees in a written statement., “Ironically enough, the last hole-in-one was also made with my 9 wood so I guess it’s my lucky club.”
“A hole-in-one is not something you see every day; even the PGA Tour doesn’t get very many, so to witness it is truly exciting. Especially when there is such an amazing prize on the line,” wrote Jonathan Schoenfeld, PGA head golf professional.
