**UPDATES**

 

Shooting

On September 01st at 7:13AM, police responded to the 14700 block of Conway Dr in Independent Hill for a call of shots fired. A preliminary investigation has revealed that 2 known acquaintances exchanged gun fire in a residence in the above area. No one was injured as a result of this incident. All parties involved have been identified or/and detained.

The investigation has yielded 2 arrests in this case which stemmed from a verbal altercation that escalated. A search warrant was conducted at the offense location of 14731 Conway Dr which resulted in a marijuana grow operation.

            Rodney Delano Shelton, 41, of 14731 Conway Dr in Independent Hill

            Charged with brandishing a firearm, reckless handling of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and manufacturing marijuana

           

            Mark Cortez Becton, 39, of 14731 Conway Dr in Independent Hill

            Charged with shooting a firearm within an occupied dwelling, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, manufacturing marijuana and possession of a firearm with 1lb of marijuana

           

            Court date set for both accused is October 18, 2010 for the shooting charges and October 19, 2010 for the drug charges, bond information unavailable

 

 

**ANIMAL ATTACK**

 

Dog Attack – Animal Control Shelter

On September 01st, a 51 year old Prince William County Animal Shelter caretaker was mauled by a pit bull at the Shelter located at 14807 Bristow Rd in Manassas. The dog was being walked on a leash through the Shelter to its owner for return home when it suddenly attacked the caretaker, inflicting major injuries to her leg and foot. Two other employees came to the caretaker's aid and were able to safely contain the animal. The dog showed no signs of aggression toward Shelter staff prior to the attack and had been in quarantine at the Shelter for the past 11 days for attacking 3 family members. The owner had come to take the dog home when the attack occurred. The owner elected to have the dog euthanized due to its aggressive and unpredictable nature. The caretaker was treated and released from the hospital and is at home recovering.

 

 

**ARRESTS**

 

Carnal Knowledge

On September 01st at 8:14PM, police responded to the 5000 block of Lynwood Dr in Dale City for a domestic dispute. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 15 year old girl of Dale City, had been having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 22 year old man, a known acquaintance.

            Geovanny Fernando Naranjo, 22, of 5498 Rector Dr in Woodbridge

            Charged with carnal knowledge

            Court date unavailable, released on a $3,000 unsecured bond

 

Child Abuse

On August 30th, police made an arrest in an ongoing child abuse case which began on August 18th of this year. The investigation revealed that the accused had assaulted her 2 children. Both children were checked out for their injuries.

            Charged with 2 counts of abuse and neglect of children

            Court date unavailable, held on a $3,000 secured bond

 

Narcotic Search Warrant

On September 01st, police executed a search warrant at 16231 Dumfries Rd in Dumfries in reference to an ongoing crack cocaine investigation. During the search, cocaine, scales and other evidence were located and seized.

            Charged with 3 counts of distribution of cocaine and possession of marijuana

            Court date set for October 18, 2010, held WITHOUT bond

            Toris Deandrea Howard, 32, of 16231 Dumfries Rd in Dumfries

            Charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and distribution of cocaine

 

Possession of a Schedule I or II Narcotic with Intent to Distribute

On September 01st, police made conduct and arrested the accused. During a search, approximately 7oz. of marijuana and approximately 16 ecstasy pills were recovered.

            Arrested: (Juvenile)

            A 17 year old male of Manassas

            Charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule I or II narcotic, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a false ID

**OTHER INCIDENT REPORTS**

 

Armed Robbery

On September 01st at 8:44PM, police responded to investigate an alleged robbery which occurred in the area of the Prince William Pkwy and Sudley Manor Dr in Manassas. The victim, 43 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she was driving in the area above when she was flagged down by another vehicle. An occupant of that vehicle informed the victim that her car was on fire. The victim pulled her car over and the unknown vehicle pulled in behind hers. When the victim got out of her car, the passenger, an unknown man, of the other vehicle approached her and displayed a handgun, demanding money. The driver of the vehicle was not seen and the man fled the area in the vehicle with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency. No injuries were reported.

            Lookout:

            White male, between 18 and 25 years of age, 5’6” / 140lbs, medium build, spiked black hair and brown eyes – had an earring in his ear

            Last seen wearing blue jeans and green short sleeve t-shirt

 

            Vehicle was a light colored 4DR

 

Malicious Wounding

On September 01st at 2:24PM, police responded to the 2900 block of Dale Blvd in Woodbridge for an assault. The victim, a 41 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was attacked by 2 unknown men after a brief verbal argument. The men were last seen leaving the area in a 1993 Buick LeSabre. Investigation continues.

 

Burglary

On August 31st at 4:48PM, police responded to the 5900 block of Upper Meadow Ct in Gainesville for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 12:00PM on August 10th and 12:00PM on August 14th. There were no signs of forced entry. Jewelry valued around $20,000 were reported missing.

 

Burglary

On September 01st at 8:15PM, police responded to the 5100 block of Leatherback Dr in Dumfries for a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 11:30Am and 6:00PM. There were no signs of forced entry. Electronics valued around $1,000 were reported missing.
