Pedestrian killed in crash

On 03-15-10, at approximately 5:48 a.m., a patrol officer notified communications of a crash.  The officer was on Prince William Parkway east of Hoadly Road in Woodbridge.  When the officer went to investigate the crash, he learned that a man had been struck by two vehicles.  In addition the pedestrian was the man he had assisted in a single vehicle crash.  The pedestrian was identified as Adam D. Mataseria, 25 years old, of Montego Drive in Woodbridge.

At approximately 5:05 a.m., the patrol officer responded to the above named location to investigate a single vehicle crash.  The driver of a 2001, Ford, Crown Victoria, later identifed as Adam D. Mataseria, was traveling westbound on Prince William Parkway when he lost control.  Mataseria struck a street sign that is located in the median.  It appears that Mataseria over corrected and his vehicle came to a stop on the left side of the road in a  ditch.   The Crown Victoria was towed and the officer offered Mataseria a ride but he declined.

Further investigation revealed that Mataseria was crossing Prince William Parkway towards a convenience store when he was struck by a 2010, Ford Focus,  and a 1993, Mazda Navajo.  Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Prince William Parkway.  The driver of the Focus was identified as a 27 year old woman from Alexandria.  The driver of the Navajo was identified as a 50 year old man from Manassas.  Mataseria died at the scene of the crash.

No one has been charged in this crash and the investigation continues.  The roads remained closed until 9:30 a.m.
