Brentsville seniors say goodbye
By the looks of it, all of Nokesville turned out on Tuesday for the Brentsville District High School graduation ceremony.Jiffy Lube Live (formerly the Nissan Pavilion) wasn't packed full, but it was pretty close as the class of 2010 took the stage for their final moments as Brentsville Tigers.
The ceremony was led by valedictorian Nancy Cronauer, salutatorian Chantal Berry and class president Asha Patel.
“If only we were made aware of how quickly life passes by,” Cronauer said, speculating on who her classmates will be when they return to Nokesville in years to come for their high school reunions.
Principal Robert Scott also had his say, informing the class that, due to a miscalculation in the number of snow days missed, they would actually need to complete 90 more hours of class time before receiving their diplomas.
No one looked particularly fooled by the joke, however, and a few moments later, Nicholas Allen mounted the orange and black stage to receive the first diploma.
Seven pages of names later, Danielle Zecca got the final diploma, handshake and hug from the staff.
Scott then declared them all former high school students and 351 mortarboards flew towards the rafters, marking the end of an epic journey and the beginning of a wild night.
