Fireworks abound
The region is full of options for Independence Day weekend. While Washington, D.C. will host the biggest fireworks display, western Prince William residents have several options closer to home and the celebration isn't just on Sunday -- events will be held throughout the weekend.
Dale City
Dale City kicks off the Fourth of July weekend with its Neighborhood Pride cleanup. During the week, through July 2, volunteers are cleaning up Dale Boulevard and the surrounding areas. Help is still needed. Email moserconnie@hotmail.com for details.
On Saturday, July 3, the Dale City Independence Day Parade will be followed by a Family Fun Day festival.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Kirkdale Road and Dale Boulevard.
Aftewards, Family Fun Day will be held in the back of the commuter lot at Gemini Way and Dale Boulevard.
That event will include entertainment, games, displays, crafts, a petting zoo, pony rides and food.
The celebration is free but some of the rides will have fees.

Potomac Nationals
The Potomac Nationals will play the Wilmington Blue Rocks at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, July 3 at Pfitzner Stadium. Afterwards, stick around for a fireworks display, a preview to an even bigger show the next night.
On Saturday, July 4, the Nationals take on the Blue Rocks again at 6:35 p.m. The fireworks show after the game will be the P-Nats' biggest display of the season.
Tickets run from $8-14 for adults. Tickets for kids and seniors are $7 and children under 5 are free.

Great Meadow
Great Meadow will again host its Fourth of July celebration beginning at 4 p.m. July 4. The festivities will include helicopters, puppet theater, music, games and contests, a polo match, rock-climbing wall, petting zoo, crafts, food and more.
The celebration continues throughout the day and fireworks begin at dark.
Participants can bring picnic baskets and coolers and can reserve tents or hospitality boxes online. General admission passes are $20 per car in advance or $40 at the gate. Advance tickets are available online or at Giant stores.

Manassas Park
Manassas Park's Celebrate America festival will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. July 4 at Signal Hill Park, 9300 Signal View Drive. The event is free but parking costs $5 at the event and parking is limited. A free shuttle bus will run passengers from the VRE parking lot and City Hall to the event.

Manassas
The City of Manassas will hold the area's biggest Independence Day Celebration. The city's
Celebrate America festival will be held around the train depot and Manassas Museum in Old Town, beginning at 4 p.m. July 4.
The events will include live music, rides, moon bounces, food, face-painting, hayrides and other activities.
Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. and can best be viewed from the Manassas Museum lawn at 9101 Prince William St. Participants should bring lawn chairs or blankets.
