Three Bobcat indoor track athletes earned top-five finishes at the Montgomery County Invitational meet this past Saturday.
Junior Bryon Sintim became Battlefield's most successful track star of the weekend by not only posting a fourth-place finish in the long jump (21-04.50 feet), but also earning seven place in the triple jump (42-11.25).
No other Battlefield athlete competed in more than one solo event.
Junior Nathan Moyer, however, brought back fourth place for the boys with a 2:00.56-minute run in the 800-meter run. Senior teammate Sebastian Paniagua checked 22 spots down the line in the same event.
Senior Genevieve Johnson led the charge for the girls, coming in fifth place in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.29 seconds, 0.33 seconds behind first-place finisher Alyssa McClure of Digital Harbor.
She actually shaved 0.10 seconds off of her preliminary run when she came in sixth place and was rewarded with an extra spot up in the final rankings.
Other BHS contenders for the girls included juniors Ali Shaughnessy (34th place in the 800-meter run), Marina Capalbo (40th in the 1,600-meter run) and the 4x200 meter relay team (25th).
Senior Joiquan James (28th in the 55-meter hurdles), junior Drew Everett (37th in the 400-meter dash) and the 4x800 team (9th place) also placed at the event.
