Vendors host ‘Dream Wedding’ for local couple

A group of 13 regional wedding vendors, from the venue and planner to the florist and photographer, provided a dream wedding to one lucky couple free of charge last weekend. The wedding giveaway, with an approximate value of $60,000, is the end product of a strong desire by this elite group to give one deserving couple the kind of wedding they’ve always dreamed of but would have otherwise been unable to afford. Jason and Samantha Klickna tied the knot on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville.

"As a group, we take pride in putting together one-of-a-kind weddings for each and every couple and we saw the strain that the recent economic downturn was having on both the couples and the industry,” Lisa Schulz, owner of The Posh Planner, said in a written statement. “We decided to take action because we feel strongly that regardless of their financial situation, every couple deserves to have their dream wedding.”

Interested couples were asked to fill out an online application, upload a photo and, in 500 words or less, explain why they felt they were the most deserving. The lucky couple was selected by the group more than a year ago. Samantha Crise and Jason Klickna were chosen because they had sacrificed their wedding and life plans to care for Klickna’s father, who was cancer stricken.

"I have watched the man I love take such tender care of his father,” Crise wrote in her letter. “I myself grew to love his father. He has sacrificed so much and endured so much pain through this battle with his dad. He has shown how loving, patient and caring he can be.”

Klickna’s father, John, died before the wedding but was remembered with small touches in the ceremony.

Participating vendors at the wedding included Stonewall Golf Club, Lisa Schulz of The Posh Planner, Cleverly Candid Photography, Julia MacInnis Photography, Holly Heider Chapple Flowers, Paperzest, Olivera Music Entertainment, Taylor Made Cakes, Capital Party Rentals, Capitol Chocolate Fountains, My Mobile Salon, Samantha Spittle, Acuity Audiovisual, Reston Limousine, Kenna’s Cookies and Dolce Video.
