Teens charged with car-hopping

On 10-21-09, at approximately 3:09 a.m., an off-duty  PWCP officer called to report a suspicious activity in the 12000 block of Valcour Island Way in Bristow.  The first responding officers observed a red sedan parked on Valcour Island Way and stopped to investigate.  The driver was identified as Jaime L. Hein, and in the back of the vehicle, the officers found GPS units, cell phones, digital cameras, and cash.  Further investigation revealed that Alvarado and Pena went "car hopping".  Alvarado and Pena are accused of looking for unlocked cars to steal property from them. Detectives from Major Crimes Unit in conjunction with patrol officers developed the identity of the accused.  Hein and Alvarado were arrested at the scene.  Pena was later arrested at his residence.
