Youth For Tomorrow fair is Saturday

By Tara Donaldson

Football Hall-of-Famer and NASCAR great Joe Gibbs will be back in town on Saturday for the 24th annual Country Fair and Auctions at Youth For Tomorrow.

In addition to his more well-known jobs as Redskins coach and NASCAR owner, Gibbs is also the founder of the Youth For Tomorrow home for at-risk youth in Bristow.

Each October, Gibbs and other superstars from the sports world show up at the campus for a day of entertainment, games, rides and auctions. Proceeds benefit the facility that gives troubled teens a second chance.

More than 40 items will be on the auction block this year, including a trip to Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, NASCAR packages, a Super Bowl package, a quarter in the broadcast booth at a Redskins game, a quail-hunting trip with Oliver North, a steak and lobster feast prepared by Brit Hume and a chance to be named in an upcoming novel by David Baldacci.

Silent auctions and raffles will also feature items from Home Depot, Best Buy and Lustine Auto Mall.

A number of activities will be provided for children, including target-shooting with former Redskin Dave Butz, paint ball competitions, mechanical bulls, NASCAR exhibits, rock climbing, an obstacle course and more.

A health clinic will also be on site where attendees can get flu shots for $15.

The festivities will also include music, dancing and food vendors.

The fair runs from 10 a.m. To 4 p.m. and the silent auction tent will be open until 3 p.m.

The live auction will take place under the big top from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 16. Children 3 and under can attend for free and there is no charge for parking.

Youth For Tomorrow is located at 11835 Hazel Circle Drive in Bristow. The full lust of auction items is available online at www.youthfortomorrow.org.
