Softball regional semis moved to Thursday
The regional semi-final games for softball separately featuring Battlefield and Brentsville District have both been moved back to Thursday.
A rain-out in the Group AAA Northwest Region quarter-finals on Monday between Hylton and Halifax is set to be made up today. Top-seeded Battlefield is then scheduled to host the winner Thursday, May 28 in Haymarket. Game time is tentatively scheduled for 5 p.m.
Likewise, the Group AA Region II semi-final between Brentsville District and host-team Broad Run has been postponed to Thursday at 6 p.m. The game was delayed due to field conditions after rain storms this week.
Battlefield and Brentsville can each clinch a berth to the state tournament with a win in the regional semi-finals, but a loss would knock each team out of the playoffs. Though the Bobcats are a strong favorite to win regions, the Tigers have a much more difficult task in trying to dethrone defending back-to-back state champion Broad Run, especially on the road against the No. 1 team in the Region II tournament.
