Drug arrests reported
On 06- 19 -09, detectives from the Street Crimes Unit arrested two subjects and charged them with drug possession and distribution. In addition, they also made an arrest in a separate incident that occurred two months ago.The first incident occurred at 12:37 p.m. at the Fortuna Plaza located at 4406 Fortuna Center Plaza in Dumfries. A detective observed a suspicious activity and stopped to investigate. The investigation revealed that Joseph Lewis Witcher, 60, of Sandrise Court, Elkridge, Md., was in possession of drugs. Witcher was charged with two counts of Distribution of Schedule II Substance (Oxycodone and Morphine). Witcher was held without bond and has a court date of August 21, 2009.
The second incident occurred at 7:20 p.m. in the area of Springwoods Drive and Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge. A detective observed a suspicious person and stopped to investigate. Further investigation revealed that Phillip D. Gaither, 24, of Conquest Court in Woodbridge, was in possession of Marijuana. Gaither was charged with possession of marijuana and was released on a summons.
On 05-12-09, at approximately 11:34 p.m. two detectives observed a drug activity involving a group of men and stopped to investigate. The incident occurred in the area of Cridercrest Place in Woodbridge. When the detectives approached the group of men one of them exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The identity of the subject was later developed. On 06-18-09, Victor Tanyon Ellis, 21, of Fairchild Drive in Alexandria was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana and obstruction of justice. Ellis was released on his own recognizance and has a court date of July 21, 2009.
