Crash causes rush hour problems for Centreville Road commuters

On 07-21-09, at approximately 4:34 p.m., the police responded to the intersection of Centreville Road and Maplewood Drive in Manassas to investigate a single vehicle crash. The driver of a 1991, Honda, Accord collided with a utility pole. The wires came down across the road causing Centreville Road to be closed for a while. A detour was temporarily set up. Manassas Park Police Officers assisted Prince William County Police Officers with traffic control. The driver left the scene but later returned. The driver was identified as Ramon Zapaton, 32, of Peakwood Court in Manassas. Zapaton was charged with Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, and No Operators License. Zapaton is being held on $6,000 bond and has a court date of September 11, 2009.

Centreville Road had one lane open in the southbound lane and one lane open in the northbound lane. At 11:38 roads were completely open.
