Suspects charged in Dairy Queen, bank robberies

On January 2, 2009, around 2 p.m., police were called to the Dairy Queen, located at 11702 Sudley Manor Drive in the Manassas area, in reference to an attempted armed robbery. A man, armed with a knife, entered the restaurant and demanded money. The suspect left the scene without taking anything and no one was injured.

At about 2:20 p.m. on the same day, police were called to the Virginia Commerce Bank, located at 10834 Balls Ford Road in the Manassas area, in reference to an armed robbery. A man entered the bank, approached a teller, implied that he was armed and demanded money. The suspect left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Following an investigation, police arrested two individuals in connection with these and other crimes on January 2, 2009. Mark E. Wilson Jr., 31, of no fixed address, was arrested on charges of Grand Larceny, Attempted Armed Robbery, Armed Robbery.

Melissa S. Martin, 29, of no fixed address, was charged with Grand Larceny, Attempted Armed Robbery, Armed Robbery

Both Wilson and Martin are being held on no bond at the Adult Detention Center. Both have court dates of February 3, 2009.
