Arrests and incidents reported by police on April 14

Fly-Out

On 04-13-09, at approximately 9:12 p.m. the police responded to Lee Highway near Pageland Lane in Gainesville to investigate a single vehicle crash.  The driver of a 2001, Pontiac, Boneville was traveling northbound on Lee Highway when the driver drifted to the left shoulder and over corrected in an attempt to regain control.  The driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree causing the vehicle to over turn.  The vehicle then struck a second tree rupturing the fuel tank.  The vehicle burst into flames as it came to rest on its roof in the woods.  The driver and the passenger were able to get out of the vehicle prior to the vehicle fully engulfing into flames.  The driver was identified as Kevin David Fincham, 36, of J Bren Court in Brandy Station in Virginia.  Fincham was flown to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Fincham was charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI).  Fincham was released on a summons and has a court date of May 27, 2009.  The passenger was identified as a 23-year-old man from Lignum Virginia.  He was treated at the scene. 

Arrests

Malicious Wounding, occurred on April 11, 2009, around 9:28 p.m. in the 1400 block of Aiden Drive in Woodbridge. Arrested was Jorge Mario Vasquez Lopez, 39, of Alaska Road in Woodbridge on the charge. Initially the police were called to investigate a crash with injuries. When the officers arrived they discovered that a woman had been stabbed by her estranged boyfriend while they were in her van. The victim, a 28-year-old woman from Woodbridge reported that she went to pick up the children that she and the accused have in common. The accused asked the victim for a ride and then they would exchange the children. The victim agreed to give a ride to the accused. The victim reported that while they were in her van, the accused produced a knife and stabbed her. The victim stopped her van and the accused fled the scene. The accused was later found at his residence. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was treated for stab wounds that she received in her hand and thigh. Lopez was held without bond and he will be having a hearing in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Concealed Weapon (switchblade), occurred on April 12, 2009, around 1:54 p.m. in the 14300 block of Fullerton Road in Dale City. A patrol officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested Jaron Lee Brown, 22, 2009, of Fallbrook Lane in Woodbridge on the charges. Brown was held without bond. The court date was not available.

Incidents

Strong-Arm Robbery, occurred on April 13, 2009, around 9:30 a.m. in a parking lot of Potomac Mills Mall located at 2700 Potomac Mills Circle in Woodbridge. The victim, an 18-year-old woman from Woodbridge was walking to a bank to drop off a deposit from work. The victim reported that two men began running in her direction so started running towards the bank. One of the suspects told the victim to stop running and snatched the purse from her. The second suspect pushed the victim to the ground then they ran from the scene. A citizen observed the incident and help the victim by calling the police. The first suspect is described as a Black male, between 18-25-years-old, approximately 5'7" tall, medium built, black hair, and was wearing a black jacket, khaki pants, and a mask. The second suspect was a Black male, between 18-25-years-old, approximately 5'9" tall, medium built, and was wearing a black jacket, black pants, a hood covering his face. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

Shooting at an Occupied Dwelling, occurred on April 12, 2009, around 7:00 p.m. in the 13700 block of Kaywood Drive in Woodbridge. The victim reported that she and her family were sitting in their living room and saw three unknown juveniles walking on the other side of the street across from her house. The victim then observed one of the juveniles pointed a gun at her house and shot at it three times breaking the front glass door. The officers found BB's in front of the victim's doors. No one was injured. The suspects are described as three Black males, between 14-16-years-old. One suspect was wearing a dark colored shirt and light colored pants. The second suspect was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with neon spots, dark pants and armed with an air soft gun. The third suspect was wearing a blue shirt and white pants.

Grand Larceny, occurred on April 13, 2009, around 8:37 p.m. at a restaurant located in the 16600 block of River Ridge Boulevard in Woodbridge. The employee reported that an unknown man entered the restaurant, approached the counter and stole his cell phone. The suspect walked out of the store with the cell phone. The suspect is described as a Black male, between 25-30-years-old, approximately 5'10" tall, medium built, and had shoulder length black braided hair. The cell phone was valued at $300.
