PWC candidates file for House of Delegates

The deadline for House of Delegates candidates in Prince William County to file for their party's nominations ended this past Friday, leaving three races with party nominees decided, one incumbent running unopposed, and dualing primaries in the open 52nd district.

The following is the finalized list provided by the Prince William County Office of Voter Registration and Elections and verified in separate interviews with PWC political party chiefs Peter Frisbie (D) and Lyle Beefelt (R):

13th District (Western Prince William County and lower Loudoun County)
Del. Bob Marshall (R) vs. John Bell (D)

31st District (Parts of central Prince William, eastern Fauquier County)
No Democratic candidate filed to challenge Del. Scott Lingamfelter (R)

50th District (Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, parts of Prince William)
Del. Jackson Miller (R) vs. Jeanette Rishell (D)

51st District (Parts of eastern Prince William)
Del. Paul Nichols (D) vs. Richard Anderson (R)

52nd District (Parts of southeastern Prince William)
Democrats: Michael Hodge vs. Luke Torian
Republicans: Rafael Lopez vs. Amy Frederick

Notes:
1) This is not necessarily the final list for the general election as independents may eventually file, but the following candidates make up the confirmed list for candidates seeking their party's nominations through primaries.
2) Chris Brown (D), the 2007 Democratic nominee in the 52nd district, had been repeatedly mentioned as a candidate for the 52nd district this year but did not ultimately file on Friday, according to Frisbie.
3) The party chairs Frisbie and Beefelt are due to certify the candidates for each primary Wednesday at 5 p.m.
4) Candidates seeking their party nominations by methords other than primaries may register between May 8 and June 9.
5) Party chairs certify their candidates for the general election in November on June 15.
6) According to an e-mail from the registrar's office, "All the House Districts (Dem and Rep), except the 51st Dem, declared that they would hold a primary if there were more than one candidate for the office."
