Brentsville girls win first match of season

    The Brentsville District varsity girls volleyball team won its first match of the season last night, defeating Northwestern District rival Central in three straight games (25-17, 25-12, 25-13).

Senior outside hitter Paige Knowlton led the Tigers with 10 kills while Christine Herndon added another seven.

Sammi Gough racked up 14 assists and had a perfect day serving, successfully hitting all 14 of her shots over the net, including seven aces.

Johanna Hummel provided a defensive boost for Brentsville with three blocks.

Brentsville (1-5 overall, 1-3 district) takes on Sherando at home in Nokesville on Thursday.
