Incidents reported by police on Nov. 24


Bank Robbery

The Prince William County Police Department is presently investigating a bank robbery that occurred today at 3:36 p.m. at the Wachovia bank, located at 2876 Dale Boulevard in Dale City. The suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s. He was approximately 5'2" tall, medium built, and was wearing a blue sweater. Weapons were not displayed during the robbery. No one was injured.


Fly-Outs

On 11-24-08, at approximately 6:03 a.m. the police responded to Prince William Parkway and Balls Ford Road in Manassas to investigate a crash. The operator of a 2009 BMW 650GS, had stopped at the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Balls Ford Road when it was rear ended by a 1998, Ford, Explorer. The operator of the motorcycle was thrown from it. The motorcycle slid and struck the vehicle in front of it, a 2001, Saturn, SC2. The Explorer swerved to the left and entered the median striking a curb. The Explorer rolled at least once prior to coming to a stop.

The operator of the motorcycle was identified as a 28-year-old man from Gainesville. He was flown to an area hospital with severe injuries. The operator of the Saturn was identified as a 43-year-old man from Front Royal. He was not injured during the crash.

The operator of the Explorer was identified as Greylin Leroy Thomas, 53, of Roderick Loop, Gainesville. Thomas was transported to a local hospital and was treated for minor injuries. Thomas was charged with Reckless Driving. He was released on a summons and has a court date of January 28, 2008.


On 10-24-08, at approximately 10:35 a.m., the police responded to the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and Opitz Boulevard in Woodbridge. The operator of a 2001 Toyota Corolla, was traveling northbound on Jefferson Davis Highway and attempted to make a left turn at the intersection of Opitz Boulevard. A 1999, Mercury, Sable, was traveling southbound on Jefferson Davis Highway when it collided with the Corolla.

The operator of the Corolla was identified as a 79-year-old woman from Woodbridge. Initially, she was transported to a local hospital but after assessing her injuries she was flown to an area hospital. The operator of the Sable was identified as a 39-year-old woman from Woodbridge. She was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

 

Incidents

Strong-Arm Robbery, occurred on November 22, 2008, around 4:36 p.m. in the 17000 block of Dumfries Road in Dumfries. The victim, a 28-year-old man from Dale City, reported that he had been robbed and relieved of his wallet. The victim reported that he rented a hotel room, entered his room, then went outside. When the victim was outside of his hotel room, he was approached by a group of males. The suspects assaulted the victim and relived him of his wallet and cash. The victim suffered minor facial injuries. The suspect are described as four black males.


Attempted Armed Robbery, occurred on November 23, 2008, around 10:45 p.m. in the 16700 block of Chowning Court in Woodbridge. The victim, a 41-year-old man from Woodbridge reported that an unknown man had attempted to rob him a knife point. The victim reported that he was getting one of his children out of his vehicle when the suspect approached him, threatened him with a knife, and demanded money. The suspect left the scene without taking anything from the victim. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a tall, thin, black male, and was wearing a black hooded jacket.


Armed Robbery, occurred on November 24, 2008, around 12:30 a.m. in the 5800 block of Mapladale Plaza in Dale City. The victim, a 21-year-old man from Woodbridge was attacked while he was making a night deposit. The victim reported that he was walking to the bank when an unknown man attacked him and knocked him unconscious. The suspect took the bag with the cash and fled the scene. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6'0" tall, heavy built, was wearing a black hood shirt and a white mask. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was treated for minor injuries.


Grand Larceny From Auto, occurred on November 23, 2008, between 2:00-3:15 p.m. in the 14000 block of Shoppers Best Way in Dale City. Two victims reported that their vehicles were broken into while they were inside of a restaurant. Purses, wallets, and personal documents valued at $1,059 were stolen. Entry to the vehicles was gained by breaking a window.
