Police look for drugs at Battlefield, Bull Run

The Prince William County Police Department conducted searches of two schools yesterday. These random searches are part of an ongoing effort by the Department, and the school system’s Risk Management Office, to see that schools remain safe, drug-free environments for students and employees. Officers and drug-detection dogs searched Battlefield High School, 15000 Graduation Drive in Haymarket, and Bull Run Middle School, 6308 Catharpin Road in Gainesville. No drugs were located at either school. Police Chief Charlie T. Deane has said that it “is important to send a strong message that drugs in the school will not be tolerated. We hope that these searches will deter people from bringing drugs to school.” School Resource Officers – County police permanently assigned to middle- and high schools – coordinated the effort.
