Gainesville man charged with political vandalism

On 10-25-08, the Prince William County Police Department began the investigation of multiple acts of vandalisms in the Gainesville area of Prince William County. A total of 12 houses, one church, an HOA sign, and seven businesses were spray painted with writings targeting the presidential campaign of Senator John McCain. Other writings included the use of profane language, the numbers 666 and pentagram. The vandalisms included garage doors and building fronts which were spray painted. During the police investigation, the identity of the suspect was developed. On 11-05-08, a total of 21 warrants were obtained for the arrest of Daniel Marion Jackson, 23, residing at Bigleaf Maple Court in Gainesville. Jackson has been charged with 21 counts of Misdemeanor Destruction of Property. The investigation revealed that these incidents did not rise to the definition of hate crime under the state code law.

 

On 11-06-08, Jackson turned himself in to the police. Jackson was held without bond and he has a scheduled court date of December 3, 2008.
