ODH ride this Saturday

The Old Dominion Hounds will host a trail ride this Saturday, May 31, from Hunter's Rest in Flint Hill.

The ride starts at 10 a.m. and are "walking only," making it a good schooling opportunity for young horses or green riders.

The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for kids under 12. Riders are asked to bring a dish to share for a picnic that follows the ride. Directions are at (540) 364-3995.


Abernathy to teach

Horse trainer Randy Abernathy will give a training demonstration at Fox Trot Farm in Opal on June 14 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. He will teach a clinic June 15-17 at Fox Trot. To reserve space in either event, call (540) 341-4005.



Loudoun Hunt West hosts May 31

The Loudoun Hunt West will host the first in their trail ride series on Saturday, May 31 from Valley View Farm in Hamilton at 9 a.m. A tailgate will follow the two-hour ride; there will be be jumping and non-jumping groups. The cost is $25.

Welsh spring fling upcoming

The Virginia Welsh Pony and Cob Association will host their annual. Spring Fling Show May 31-June 1 at the Front Royal 4H Educational Center. Call for details: (540) 554-8290.


Free clinic

Horseman Jamie Dodson of Legacy Horse Training will give a free ground-training clinic June 7 starting at 1 p.m. at the Galloping Grape tack shop in Warrenton. There will also be an ongoing natural hoof trimming demos throughout the day by Cara Potter.
