Drowning victim identified

On Wednesday, May 21, at around 3:26 p.m., Prince William police and rescue workers began the search for an adult man who fell off a canoe while in the Montclair Lake in Montclair. The man's body was located around 10 a.m. Thursday morning. He was identified as Philip Esposito, 28, of Ashgrove Drive in Montclair. Fairfax County Police Department assisted in the search and recovery by providing a scan sonar device. The device, which is towed by a boat, bounced sonar waves off the bottom of the lake and provided a high quality picture of what was at the bottom. Two Prince William police divers then descended to the bottom of the lake and recovered the body. There are no indications of foul play, however the investigation continues.
