Stonewall Jackson HS 5K to benefit teacher's family

The staff of Stonewall Jackson High School is hosting a 5K race on Saturday, May 31st for the benefit of Matthew Costis.  Matthew is the 8-year-old son of Tom Costis, a special education teacher at Stonewall.  In early February, Matthew was diagnosed with a rare, extremely serious type of brain cancer.  He has undergone several surgeries, radiation treatments, and will soon begin chemotherapy for a period of six months to two years.  The Stonewall family has been offering aid to the family through a variety of fund raising activities and the 5K race will be their most ambitious event.

The community is asked to help support the event, which is called the Caring for Costis 5K.  The school is planning a variety of activities on the morning of Saturday, May 31st to entertain and involve folks of all ages and levels of physical fitness--music, refreshments, moon bounce(s), and prizes, to name a few!  The 5K run will begin at 8:30; the 1 mile fun run (around the track) is at 10:00.  On-line registration is available at www.in-motionsports.com.
