Flooding closes roads

Yesterday evening and early this morning 7 inches of rain fell in parts or Prince William County. This made it necessary to take the following safety actions; Prince William Fire & Rescue Services had to rescue 18 persons from swift water situations and evacuate 31 homes. Heavy rains has also caused power outage to 5,300 persons and the closure of 28 roads in the County

Citizens are reminded to avoid walking or driving through any moving waters. The moving waters have more force that people realize. The water can have enough force to knock people over and push vehicles down stream. Peoples should take alternate routes or cancel trips, rather than drive or walk through the moving waters. Turn around and don’t drown!!!!!
