Battlefield, Stonewall Jackson score softball victories

Battlefield started off the softball regular season on the right note with a 2-0 win over Centreville thanks to a combined one-hitter from pitchers Megan Sutphin and Brittany Black.
The two struck out 17 batters while Black and senior Kaitlyn Sileo drove in runs in the ninth inning to break a scoreless, extra-inning tie.
The 1-0 Bobcats play next on March in Manassas against Cedar Run District rival Osbourn.
In other local softball news, Stonewall Jackson held off Forest Park 3-2 on Wednesday for the Raiders' first win of the season. Stonewall hosts Gar-Field Friday at 6 p.m. in Manassas.
