Arrests and incidents reported by police on March 11.
ARRESTS
On 03-08-08, Prince County Police arrested Svetlana Vlad Toth,
35-years-old, of 1010 Bridle Court, Stephens City, Virginia, and charged
her with two counts of Obtaining Money By False Pretense. Toth had
purchased several diamond rings from a jewelry store located at the
Manassas Mall, 8300 Sudley Road, in Manassas. Toth is accused of
replacing real diamonds with fake ones in jewelry that she had
previously purchased, then returning the altered jewelry for a full
refund.
The first incident occurred on February 21, 2008. Toth is accused of
returning a fake diamond ring and receiving full credit from the store
during the transaction. Toth had purchased a genuine diamond ring
valued at $1,573.95.
The second incident occurred on March 3, 2008. Toth returned to the
jewelry store a second time. Toth is accused of returning a fake
diamond ring and receiving a full refund credit from the store. Toth
had previously purchased a genuine diamond ring valued at $3,150.
On 03-08-08, Toth returned to the store and attempted to returned a
third diamond ring. The store's personnel were familiar with Toth and
contacted the police. Toth was held on $3,000 bond and has a court date
of May 14, 2008.
The Prince William, Manassas City, Manassas Park Narcotics Task Force
conducted a search warrant at 8503 General Way in Manassas Park. The
search warrant was conducted following a three-month investigation.
Arrested were: William Rene Caballero Ortiz, 22-years-old, residing at
9235 Jessica Drive, and Jimmy Edison Mendez, 25-years-old, residing at
8503 General Way. Ortiz was charged with three counts of Possession
With Intent To Distribute Cocaine, and was held without bond. Mendez
was charged with Possession With Intent To Distribute Cocaine, and was
held on $10,000 bond. Ortiz and Mendez have been schedule to appear in
court on May 15, 2008.
Grand Larceny 2x, Destruction of Property 2x, Possession of Burglarious
Tools, occurred on March 11, 2008, around 1:37 a.m. in the 7200 block of
Gary Road in Manassas. Arrested was Santos Ventura, 30, of 13592
Bentley Circle, Woodbridge, on the charges. Police officers responded
to investigate a suspicious person in progress. A look-out was
broadcasted. Another patrol officer that was in the area observed a
vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle and
conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Santos Ventura.
Ventura is accused of breaking into work vans that were parked in front
of a business and stealing copper wire. Ventura gained entry by
breaking the windows of the vans. Bond and court date were not
available.
INCIDENTS
Armed Robbery, occurred on March 8, 2008, around 6:58 p.m. in the 4200
block of Cheshire Station Plaza in Woodbridge. The store clerk reported
that two unknown suspects walked out of the grocery store without paying
for groceries. When the clerk approached one of the suspects, he
implied that he was armed with a hand gun. The suspects exited the
store, loaded the merchandise, and left in a white van. Both suspects
are described as a Black males, between 29-35-years-old, between 5'6" -
5'7" tall, and medium built. The first suspect was wearing a blue
knitted jacket, baggy blue jeans, and black shoes. The second suspect
was wearing a blue hat, a blue sweater, and black jeans. No injuries
were reported.
Grand Larceny, occurred between March 5, 2008, around 3:30 p.m. and
March 6, 2008, around 6;00 a.m. in the 15400 block of Lee Highway in
Gainesville. Two storage trailers were broken into and had had copper
wire, two gas cans, and other construction equipment were stolen. The
total amount of the stolen property is $17,268. Entry was gained by
breaking the locks.
Grand Larceny of Auto, occurred on March 6, 2008, between 3:00-7:00 p.m.
in the 12100 block of Balls Ford Road in Woodbridge. A 2004, Chevy,
Silverado, truck, gray in color, valued at $20,000 was stolen. The
victim had parked his vehicle in front of his place of employment and he
returned, the truck had been stolen.
Statutory Burglary, occurred on March 5, 2008, around 10:05 p.m. in the
8300 block of Rugby Road in Manassas. Officers responded to investigate
a business alarm call. When they arrived, they found the front door
opened. Entry had been gained by breaking the glass. Nothing was
stolen. The suspect was wearing dark colored pants, a dark colored
sweatshirt, a white t-shirt, and white sneakers. The suspect was
observed leaving the scene in a white SUV.
Statutory Burglary, occurred between February 7, 2008, around 6:45 p.m.
and March 6, 2008, around 6:12 p.m. in the 8000 block of Urbanna Road in
Manassas. The victim reported that a community center was rummaged
through and a computer valued at $1,000 was stolen. Entry was gained
through a window.
