Horse trails forum set Jan. 22

A horse trails forum to define the needs of horse owners in Fauquier County and create a plan for addressing them will be held in Warrenton Jan. 22.

The event is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Fauquier County Parks and Rec, Virginia Division of Forestry, the Trailblazers riding club, Fauquier Trails Coalition, and the Fauquier County Extension Service.

The event is set Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Warren Green Building in Warrenton.

Anyone with an interest in the current and future recreation needs of horse owners in Fauquier County is invited to participate in the free forum. Space is limited, so while not required, indication of attendance would help in planning. Call (540) 347-6848 or E-mail parks@fauquiercounty.gov.

Crystal Crown winners feted

The annual Crystal Crown judged pleasure ride series prizes will be handed out at the Battlefield Equestrian Society brunch Sunday, Jan. 27. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket. Special guest speaker Reid Folsom will discuss judging fairly and riding obstacles.

Wanted: farm homes for city cats

Grooming to Win seminar set

The Virginia Horse Shows Association will host a seminar Feb. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Manakin Equestrian Center. Participants will learn braiding, wrapping, vet care, in-hand showing techniques and more. Lunch is included in the $50 pre-purchase price. Tickets are $60 at the door.
