Prince William gets first snow fall of 2008
Let it...dust?Prince William County residents received what was more like Old Man Winter's dandruff rather than his full wrath on Tuesday, as the first snowfall of 2008 came and went in just about an hour.
During the noon hour, flakes of the white stuff fell on the area, but, fortunately for motorists and clean-up crews alike, the snow did not build up on asphalt.
An informal measurement conducted by “The Gainesville Times” with a yardstick stuck in the grass and on top of a mail box in Manassas revealed less than an inch of accumulated snow once the flakes turned to flurries.
Temperatures had been hovering in the upper 20s and lower 30s for most of the afternoon.
According to Yahoo.com, Manassas receives an average of about 16 inches of snowfall per year.
So bundle up, PWC: winter has only just begun.
