Battlefield boys eliminated from playoffs with loss to GW-Danville

The Cinderella post-season for Battlefield came to a close Tuesday night in southern Virginia as host-team George Washington of Danville defeated the Bobcats 66-53 in the first round of the Northwest Regional playoffs.
GW-Danville entered the game as one of the best in the state while Battlefield put together wins in the first two rounds of the Cedar Run District tournament before losing to Osbourn Park by six points in the championship round.
Battlefield ends the season knowing seniors Tyler Bent, Nick Vargas, Shunn Simkins, Rex Parker and Bryant Osei will not be back next year.
The team does have a few up-and-coming juniors expected to return next winter, however, as Dion Romeo, Tim Horn and Marty Dawson being among the team's leaders and rotate in and out as starters.
