County Fair returns
August is here and that means the Prince William County Fair is too. This year’s fair runs Aug. 8-16 and includes the usual games, rides, animals, competitions and crafts, plus sea lions, a rodeo, a pro-wrestling match, pony rides and the ever-popular demolition derby.

Friday, Aug. 8 (Half-Price Day)
Admission is $3.50; Midway wristbands are $8
9 a.m.: Judging of all home arts exhibits. Buildings closed to public for judging until 4 p.m.
2 p.m.: Baby contest for boys ages 9-18 months
3 p.m.: Gates open
3:30 p.m.: Baby contest for girls ages 9-18 months
4 p.m.: Home arts buildings open
7 p.m.: Truck and tractor pull at the grandstand (tickets are $2)
Saturday, Aug. 9
Midway wristbands are $20
10 a.m.: Northern Virginia District dairy show (showing & fitting)
12 p.m.: Gates open
1 p.m. Northern Virginia District dairy show (type classes)
5 p.m.: Cardinal Cloggers
6:30 p.m.: Truck and tractor pull at the grandstand (tickets are $2)
Sunday, Aug. 10
12 p.m.: Gates open

1 p.m.: Pet show (cats and small animals)
1 p.m. Bluegrass bands
3 p.m. Hershey Cocoa Classic judging and bake sale

Monday, Aug. 11

7 p.m.: Judging of dairy cattle (showing and fitting)
7 p.m.: MMA cage fighting at the grandstand (tickets are $2)
Tuesday, Aug. 12
Midway wristbands are $16
9 a.m.: Judging of dairy goats (first four breeds)
9-10 a.m.: Remove first home arts exhibit items
10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Enter second home arts exhibit items
1 p.m. Judging of dairy cattle (type classes)
2:30 p.m.: Judging of second home arts exhibits (buildings closed to public for judging until 5 p.m.)
3 p.m.: Gates open
5 p.m. Home arts buildings open
7 p.m. Greatest Grandparent essay contest
8 p.m. Bull Run Troubadours
8 p.m. “An Evening with Corbin Bleu” concert at the grandstand (grandstand seating is free; track seats are $20)
Wednesday, Aug. 13 (Dollar Day)
Admission is $1; Midway rides are $1 each (no wristbands available)

Thursday, Aug. 14

Friday, Aug. 15

4 p.m.: Judging of sheep
7 p.m.: Demolition Derby championship at the grandstand (tickets are $2)
7:30 p.m.: Presentation of special awards and recognitions

Saturday, Aug. 16

9 a.m.: Judging of dairy goats (final four breeds)
12 p.m.: Gates open
1 p.m.: Pet show (dogs)
7 p.m.: Lionel Ward and the New World Band
7 p.m.: Freestyle Motorcross Jump-Off at the grandstand (tickets are $2)
10-11 p.m.: Home arts exhibits may be removed
Sunday, Aug. 17
11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.: Home arts exhibits may be removed
Daily attractions include dairy milking at 6 p.m. Friday through Tuesday plus games and rides, home arts and livestock exhibits, craft demonstrations, a children’s barn, Middle Earth storytelling, sea lion splash show and pony rides.
Regular admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children 3-6 and $5 for seniors 60 and older. Active duty military personnel and children 2 and under will be admitted for free.
Season passes are available for $50 each but do not include Midway rides. Mega-passes are $99 each and are good for daily admission and all Midway rides and shows. Mega-passes do not include grandstand shows.
