Planets Aligned wins Gwathmey at Middleburg Spring

Newcomer to the U.S. steeplechase circuit, Irish pro Padge Whelan savored his first taste of Virginia racing to power Fox Ridge Farm’s Planets Aligned to victory in the $75,000 Temple Gwathmey (Gr. II) steeplechase stakes at Saturday's Middleburg Spring races.

Trained in Maryland by Tom Voss, the 7-year-old made the visit to Glenwood Park his first start of 2008 after winning three times and the National Steeplechase Association novice championship last year.
