Foxfield, Middleburg Hunt races this week

The Virginia steeplechase circuit heads south to Charlottesville for Saturday's Foxfield Spring Races, returning to Glenwood Park Sunday for the Middleburg Hunt Point-to-Point.

Foxfield post time is 1:30 p.m. for the first of six races. Headlining the National Steeplechase Association-sanctioned meet is the $25,000 Van Clief memorial, newly penned as a filly and mare hurdle, a series that has proven popular with NSA trainers. Rounding out the card are maiden races over hurdles and timber, an amateur hurdle, and a training turf.

Purses total $80,000.

Complete entries can be viewed online at www.nationalsteeplechase.com. Ticket details are at (434) 293-9501.

Sunday's point-to-point post time is 1 p.m. for the first of seven races. The featured Middleburg Bowl open timber is the day's sixth race (post time 3:30 p.m.) Other races on the program include amateur and maiden hurdles, and novice, maiden and open turf.

Complete entries are online at www.centralentryoffice.com. Call (540) 687-6069 for ticket information.
