George Mason among best employers for workers over 50

George Mason University has been named one of the 50 best places to work for persons 50 years of age and older by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).

According to the association, Mason is eighth in the organization’s annual ranking, the highest of any public or private entity in Virginia, and the highest ranked college or university in the United States. Mason’s entry into the AARP’s top 50 list marks the first time in the organization’s history that a first-time honoree has been placed among the top ten best places to work.

Mason and the 49 other honorees received their awards at a special AARP ceremony on Sept. 26 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. Mason President Alan G. Merten accepted the award on behalf of the university and then participated in a roundtable discussion organized by AARP titled “Profit by Experience: International Employer and Employee Perspectives on Work and Retirement.”
