Man dies in Chantilly motorcycle crash

A 54-year-old man died on Oct. 2 after a 2003 Dodge Dakota crashed into a motorcycle he was driving.

Robert Knight was traveling north on Centreville Road on a motorcycle and Ashburn resident Alan Hensberger was traveling south in the Dakota, according to Fairfax County Police.

The two crashed around 5:21 a.m. when Hensberger didn't yield when making a left turn onto Lees Corner Road, according to Fairfax County Police.

Knight, a Bealton resident, was pronounced dead around noon that same day at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Hensberger was cited for not yielding on a left turn and was released on a summons.


Sex offender arrested at school

A registered sex offender was arrested at London Towne Elementary School on Sept. 26 for trespassing.

Julio Santa-Cruz, 27, of Centreville was caught on school property after he was involved in a minor car accident there, according to Fairfax County Police.

He was charged with being a sex offender on school property and trespassing and was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.


Man robbed in parking lot

A 25-year-old Maryland man was robbed in the 13900 block of Metrotech Drive on Sept. 22 while he was in a parking lot, according to a Fairfax County Police.

Several men approached him in a parking lot and asked him for money. They pushed him to the ground and, in the end, got away without stealing anything or injuring the victim, police said.


Woman's purse stolen

A 61-year-old woman from Fairfax was robbed on Sept. 25 after pulling into a parking spot in the 12200 block of Fairfield House Drive.

A man came up to her and grabbed her purse. The woman tried to hold onto it, but the suspect – described as Hispanic and about 5 feet and 4 inches tall – took out his knife and cut it free.
