Your School Board Has Failed You

The final report on math investigations has been available for months but it has not been presented in open school board session because it is not good news.SOL pass rates are flat and we are in serious decline compared to state averages.
Did the school system really waste tax payer’s money on an unproven, fad math program?
Here is an example of what my 3rd grader was recently expected to master.
What is a triangle?
They have to be able to figure out that a triangle has 3 sides, they are straight and they meet in the corners. No I am not kidding; I only wish that I was. Elmo taught that to my son when he was 3.
Why has the board done nothing? I have no idea. When a group of parents brought this up at the last meeting, they did not even acknowledge us. I think they know they are in trouble for standing behind a school system so sold on the discovery approach that they have lost the ability to analyze results or too afraid to admit the error which is so damaging to our children.
Please help remove this dangerous math program as they are in the process of doing in Frederick County, MD and all over the country. It is not good enough to wait for the next adoption cycle; we need it out now. You will not enjoy paying for those college remedial math classes that your children are going to need. Your kids will not be affected by you making a stand and you owe it to them to do something.
